Our lives are an amazing journey. We experience so much in our personal and physical growth. Our struggles, our victories and our defeats. Trying to understand who we are as a person and what makes us human. The complex world around us, and the most important quest in life, a thing called love and relationships of family friends and lovers.

Then just when we are starting to understand all these things a little better, something happens. Our bodies stop working and we die. They return to the elements of our earth that made us. We cease to exit anymore. This is what science tells us. But is this the true story of what really happens. Yes we have all had some exposure to some religious stories written hundreds, if not thousands of years ago. Then we are given the choice to believe and have faith in their version of an afterlife, or not.

I lost a member of my family when I was 22 years old. And up to then I had been a man of science and I guess I would have described myself as an Atheist, but really I was an Agnostic (waiting for more evidence) So I decided to start my very own research into the truth of life after death. To investigate this question for myself with the same open mind of science that has solved so many of our questions of the unknown, and turned mystery into fact and knowledge.

I needed evidence of this afterlife in today’s world, I needed witnesses in the here and now. So I started to research what people were describing of what happened to them when they had a Near Death Experience. Here were every day people dying for a short amount of time and then returning to life with information about the afterlife. But I also needed science to examine this and to test it, for what was real evidence. As a famous investigator once said “ Once your eliminate the impossible, what remains no matter how improbable, must be the truth”

I started with Dr Raymond Moody and his book “ Life After Life” one of the first doctors to start researching this mystery.

Then Dr Melvin Morse and his book “ Closer to the Light” he applied meticulous scientific research to children who had had a NDE. Because children were less conditioned to social and cultural beliefs.

Then Dr Cherie Sutherland PhD who had a NDE herself, in her book “ Transformed by the Light” she then decided to research this mystery by interviewed 400 Australian’s. And was amazed by how this experience had changed all of their lives for the better.

Now at the same time there was a debate going on about was this experience real or just a hallucination of the mind through lack of oxygen, or a cascade of neuron-transmitting hormones being released as the brain was dying.

Well this debate was soon to be answered.

One of the best documentaries on the subject is the BBC’s “ The Day I Died” which explores all of the medical possibilities.

In this documentary one patient named Pam Reynolds answered all of the sceptics with her best-documented NDE to date. In 1991 she was diagnosed with a massive brain aneurism that was inoperable because it was located at the base of her brain. If they were to operate she would die for sure. Her doctor found one neuro-surgeon a Dr Robert Spetzler that was willing to operate at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix Arizona. He gave her a 50-50 chance of surviving the procedure known as “ Operation Stand Still”.

What happened next was one of the most extremely medically monitored Near Death Experience to date.

For this operation Pam’s body was chilled down to 10 degrees to preserve her brain tissue. Her heart and lungs stopped. All blood would be drained from her head and the remainder ran through a heart lung bypass machine. Her brain and heart would be flat lined for one hour. This meant she was clinically dead during this time. Her eyes were taped shut and buzzers were placed in her ears, so that if the brain somehow started to function again the EEG machine would pick up the brain activity trying to process this sound.

When Dr Spetzler opened her skull, Pam suddenly found herself floating above her body watching the operation. She saw the instruments used and heard the conversation between the surgeons and specialists, who were having trouble with her small femoral artery in her left leg. They decided to swap to the right leg femoral artery.

Pam then saw a tunnel of white light and journeyed through to find her grandmother waiting with family members. After talking for a while she was told she had to return to her body. Pam said to them no thank you, I will stay here. But her uncle walked her back to the operating room and said you have to jump back into your body again, which she did after some convincing.

After surviving the second part of the operation to restart her heart and body, she went to ICU for a week. When she spoke to her GP in recovery she told him of her story. He decided to investigate and by talking to Dr Spetzler. All of her information about the instruments, the surgery and the conversations were 100% correct and verified by all present. But they all agreed that this was impossible for Pam to have remembered this because her body was dead, and the recordings of the monitors confirmed this fact. The only way she could have seen and heard this was for her conscious mind to have been outside her body, in essence her “ Soul”

Now I had the proof I was looking for. We do have a soul and it does survive the death of the human body. And we do return back to a place that is home for all of our souls.

I read other NDE books such as the ABC’s radio program “ And when I die, will I be dead” It was first broadcast in 1981 and was so popular they had to air it again another 8 times. Then in 1987 the ABC published the book. In it a young Tasmanian boy by the name of Allen Lewis had the most detailed NDE. He was the first to talk about how as souls we have multiple lives here on Earth, and how the concept of reincarnation works. Which for him was strange because he was brought up a very strong Methodist.

I then started reading about past life regressions to understand this thing called reincarnation. I was fortunate to find the one book that would change my live forever. Dr Brian Weiss “ Many Lives Many Masters”. A professor of psychiatry at the Mount Sinai medical centre in Florida. His scientific approach to this research was very professional, and at the same time very human and deeply personal. He was working with one young patient named Catherine who was suffering from nightmares and chronic anxiety attacks. When traditional methods failed to help he then turned to hypnosis. She started to recall past lives. He was very sceptical at first. But he could not find any psychological condition with her. And with each regression her symptoms disappeared and she was soon back to normal life. For the next 2 years he treated other similar patients to Catherine with past life regression therapy. To his astonishment they also were successfully treated. He took a large leap of faith and wrote his book. Thinking this would end his medical career. Instead it became a number 1 bestseller worldwide.  I read all of his 3 books over and over again.

 After this realization that past life regression was real, I could not wait to learn to become a Hypnotherapist. In 1997 I regressed my first friend and client. It was a first step into a much larger world, and my life would never be the same. After 16 years and over 200 past life regression clients later, yes I have found the answers that I was looking for when I started on my journey. And gained a lot of wonderful information and wisdom from spirit along the way.

Then in 2001 next most important book I read was Michael Newton’s “ Destiny of Souls” a psychologist with a PhD in counseling. This book opened the door to the spiritual home world, what we call heaven, our home. The spiritual life we have in between our physical lives. I have fully confirmed and validated all the information written by both of these great authors, by my Australian clients regressions. Most of which had never heard or read about these authors. If you are to read only one book on this subject, then “ Destiny of Souls” is it.

So what have I found? Well that would take an entire book to write. Which is precisely what I am doing. But I can give you some basic information – the truth of life and dead.

We are born as souls in heaven from our Creator, the Supreme Being. We are like one spark off this one sun. We are given the most valuable gift there is – free will. Our education starts in heaven, then when we are ready we start the lessons of life in the physical. Our soul is given a new body to experience and learn with, by our teachers who have learnt the same way already. But in return we agree to forget all about who we really are. So that when we are born here on Earth we embrace our life fully and open hearted, like it was the very first time we have lived here. By giving us our own free will, we can truly see what is in our hearts by our own actions. And learn and grow from our mistakes and lessons. The aim is to find our way back to the wisdom of love that created us. Even if it takes a thousand life times. We are immortal and the universe is infinite in patience and understanding. There are only a few universal laws. Try not to kill others or yourself if possible. Even tho we are free to do what we want to here, good or bad – karma is a real thing. And a debt of harm to others must be paid one day. But our teachers understand that every rule has an exception.

For every life on Earth we get to rest and reflect in heaven for 50 to 100 years. Learning in our soul group of fellow students. We swap life roles from parents to children, from males to females. All with individual characters with our own unique soul. We have our own passions and dreams. Every life has its purpose, even if it cannot be seen here at the time. All becomes clear once we return home. The human animal is one of the most emotional forms of life there is. It is a real challenge to live here on Earth with all our differences. In spirit we are all individuals and unique souls, but we all belong to the one energy, all brothers and sisters in the one family. We are all children of the Light.

There you have it. This is my story. I hope this information has helped to take the fear away from the subject of the afterlife and God. And yes I have had personal confirmation of my family members survival in heaven. Thank you for showing me the way.
